Summer Game Fest took place, which remained the biggest gaming event after the cancellation of E3. I watched a lot of interesting trailers for upcoming games online, including very in-depth material about Starfield, an RPG with hundreds of planets and ships and quests, and the material itself made me more optimistic about the game.

As usual, it’s Saturday and maybe you have time to watch the trailers that caught my eye there. Let’s start with Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Ubisoft is making a Farcry in the Avatar universe. From what can be seen in the presentation, you have territories on the map, the enemies have forts from place to place that can be destroyed by stealth or direct attack, and you collect resources for crafting and learning various skills. You probably also have a bird or drone to see enemies from above and tag them.

Star Wars: Outlaws seems much more interesting to me. It takes place somewhere on the edge of the empire, something rather inspired by the mafia universe of Solo. this is what I would play:

Assassin’s Creed Mirage showed gameplay surprisingly close to the first two games in the long-ago series. I like:

The Final Fantasy 7 remake continues with Rebirth.

Cities Skylines 2 has a new trailer. I played the first game for a while, it’s the best city builder ever, especially with some mods that help regulate traffic and traffic lights. The sequel seems more of the same but with improved graphics and apparently more vertical constructions. Will play!

Lords of the Fallen has shown images before. It seems like a game close to Elden Ring, but with the twist that here there are two worlds, like the living and the dead, and the main character can switch from one to the other. He also has a lamp with which he sees the other world, which will probably lead to some good puzzles. It launches on October 13th.

Starfield would deserve its own article, being such a large and ambitious game that I hope they do well because it would be worth it after so much work. Hundreds of planets, ships, and side quests are promised.

Starfield is a cross between No Man’s Sky, Mass Effect, Star Citizen, and other games. The clip below explains everything well, and then there is another clip, an in-depth one where the producers talk about various aspects related to the story, weapons, customization, and more. I recommend that one too, it might just convince you to want this game.

Unfortunately, its success is unpredictable as of now. Worlds generated with generation algorithms don’t always turn out well. If the game is repetitive or doesn’t have a progression that keeps you hooked or gets any of the factors wrong that can be a deal-breaker in a game of this magnitude, it won’t be ok. I hope they turn out well because I have a great appetite for such a complex universe.
